NEW BLOG!!! BLOG 3.0!

May 29th, 2009 | News

Many people have asked why I haven’t updated this blog in so long.  Many have asked if I haven’t been shooting or if I have abandoned blogging all together.  The short answer is NO WAY!  I’ve been shooting and building a NEW BLOG.  In fact, I’ve been remaking my entire business over the past three months with some exciting changes in the works!

In my quest for more consistent branding and easier website management I’ve had a new blog and website built so I will no longer be updating this blog.  This blog will remain here for clients and potential clients to view my work from the 2008 wedding season.

Click here to come to my new BLOG 3.0!

My new site will be up shortly as well so visit the new blog for that announcement.

See you at BLOG 3.0!

We’re Back and refreshed!

August 11th, 2008 | News

I am officially back. If you left a message or I emailed that I would be in touch early this week, expect to hear from me tomorrow.

My family and I found a wonderful resort called Fair Hills Resort near Detroit Lake on ExploreMinnesota.com

Why drive to Detroit Lakes, don’t you live in resort country near Grandview Lodge, Madden’s, Cragun’s and Ruttger’s?  Yes I do, but I shoot weddings at all of these locations all of the time, so I wanted to get away, and get away we did.

I am pretty sure that Fair Hills Resort has a time warp installed under their banner that you drive through to enter the resort because it is like going back to the ’50’s.  Think Kellerman’s Resort from the movie Dirty Dancing.

Why did we like it so much?  Because we didn’t have to plan our vacation at all, all you have to do is show up.  They provide all meals and activities and everybody there was more than hospitable.  No TV’s, no phones, and when you arrive you get a schedule of events for the week, including a talent show, torpedo rides, golf tourney’s and events, and hundreds of other things.  Once in a while the staff will sing a few songs during dinner, and yes there is a dance on the last night of the week. They really take care of everything, which is exactly what we needed.

Would it be a good place for a honeymoon.  Absolutely not!  Would it be a good place once you have children?  Absolutely.

If you like to plan your own vacation, Fair Hills probably isn’t for you.  If you don’t want to have to plan your own vacation, but have somebody else do it for you, Fair Hills is great.

If you are one of the three people in the world that actually like to look at other people’s vacation slideshows, I put together a little montage of our vacation to let you know what we’ve been up to.

One caveat, I am not a professional videographer and this is shot with a little Canon HV-20 camcorder, so take it for what it is worth.  Also, if you don’t have high-speed internet or if your computer is more than 2-3 years old, the video may be more than your computer can handle.

Otherwise, enjoy.
