Justin and Jen embody fun, relaxed, confident, funny and in love.  You may recall their engagement at Madden’s Resort a couple of months ago.  Their wedding took place at the beautiful Rush Creek Golf Club in Maple Grove, MN.

My day started with the ladies at Salon Bell’ Amici.  It turns out I wasn’t the only photographer there!

After leaving the ladies at the Salon, I caught up with the guys at Lilli Putt mini-golf.

After Justin’s super-human putt-putt performance, I hurried back to Rush Creek to catch the ladies getting ready for the big event.
 

Just across the hall the guys were making their own preparations.

Let’s Get Married!!!

 I always try to steal the couple for 10-15 minutes during the cocktail hour as they tend to be more relaxed having just gotten married.

This isn’t every couples cup of tea, but for Jen and Justin, it was perfect. Justin went first and Jen actually shot this sequence.

Then they made a switch-a-roo, Jen went and Justin shot.

Let’s eat cake and PARTY!

 I love going outside just as it is getting dark.

These are shot as the couple sat around a fire that was on the patio at Rush Creek.  The only light available was from the fire.

Jen and Justin had a heck of a party.

It been a while since I have been able to shoot in the town of my birth, Marshall, MN.  I truly enjoy shooting there because it forces me to look at the town I took for granted for 18 years of my life, a town that I have looked at so much that everything goes unnoticed, in a new way.

I met Quentin and Anisa at their home and they both looked at me funny when I said we were going to start at the storage garages just a few blocks from their home.  Light, lines, repeating patterns, repeating colors, how could I not go there?

After the storage garages, we went to one of Quentin’s friend’s family farms just south of Marshall, where in addition to the farm, the family has a small pond.  Anisa’s a farm girl, so she appreciates the setting.

If your familiar with rural life, a quonset is something in the landscape with which you are certainly familiar.

So are metal buildings.

Dang, they look good!

On our way to the next location, we stopped twice…

I love old farm houses, rural Minnesota is littered with them, and they always remind us of our history.

From dusk into the early night, we wandered downtown Marshall on a Friday evening.

Steve and Molly are getting married in a few short weeks at Madden’s Resort, which is a beautiful resort on Gull Lake, just north of Brainerd, MN with great watersports, golf, lawn sports, beaches and service.  If you’re looking for a great summer get-a-way, be sure to add Madden’s to your list.

Steve and Molly drove up from the Twin Cities for their engagement. We met at my studio in Brainerd then headed out to a great park near Gull Lake to wander around in the woods.

I think this is my personal favorite from the park.
 

Molly and Steve are boaters and enjoy exploring the many wonderful lakes that make up the Brainerd/Crosslake area.  So we put the Mastercraft V-Drive in the water and went for a quick spin.

Molly and Steve, thanks for making the trip up and I’ll see you in a few weeks!
