The more wedding I shoot and the more couples that I meet, the more amazed I become at the effectiveness in which mysteriously person A can meet some other person B that fits them while at the same exact moment person B finds someone who fits them in person A.  Seriously awesome and seriously a mysterious blessing. Bridget and Matt, you are blessed and are a blessing.

My day started with the ladies at one of the newer Salons in Marshall, Savvi Salon.

We continued at Bridget’s parents’ home.  What a dress!

After most weddings, I come home and tell my wife that I am going to weep, out of joy, when my little girls get married.  Being a Dad is the best.

Matt and Bridget were married at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.  This is the parish of my youth and I am still taken back by the beauty of the building. Matt and Bridget first met on their wedding day alone (besides me) in the church.

We ran out to Southwest Minnesota State University for some portrait time with the wedding party.

“Now guys look at the camera, not at me,” (Inside joke with the guys in the wedding). 

We sent the wedding party back to the church while Bridget, Matt and I wandered the halls of SMSU and we found some very interesting locations.  Forgive me if I break out some funky, unconventional and modern visual stimulation for the next few minutes. 

Time to get married and into photojournalism mode.

At the Marshall Golf Club, we went out onto the grounds and DECAPITATED THE BOUQUET! Not on purpose, but it was quite hilarious.

One day Erin called and asked if I would be interested in shooting her wedding, reminding me that she was a bridesmaid in a Emily and Jason’s wedding that I shot a couple of years ago at Cragun’s Legacy, but her wedding would be at St. Bart’s in Wayzata with the reception at the Lafayette Club in Minnetonka Beach.  I quickly thought to myself, hummm…. Emily and Jason’s wedding was a blast, St. Barts is beautiful, the Lafayette Club is spectacular….   yes, please!

My day started with the ladies at the Lafayette Club getting ready.

After hair and make-up, we headed to St. Bart’s to get dressed.

Erin and Jesse choose to see each other for the first time that day when she walked down the aisle.  I love this option and am convinced that if a photographer tries to talk a couple out of waiting to see each other until the ceremony, for the sake of pictures, he or she just isn’t creative enough.

After the ceremony we ran a couple of block to Lake Minnetonka at The Depot for a quick session with the wedding party.  Starting with the guys.

Personalized hockey jersey’s were made for all of the guys as Jesse’s a pretty big Wild fan.

You can’t tell from the guys pics, but it was WINDY!!!

Back at the Lafayette Club we had mercy on the wedding party and let them start the party a little early while we took a stroll around the beautiful ground of the Lafayette Club.

Well, let’s just say the 3 times is a charm.  Gina, Justin and I scheduled their engagement session for a Friday, the leaves were stunning and perfect, but it was rained out before I arrived.  So we rescheduled for that Sunday, again the leaves were stunning and perfect, this time we were rained out 10 minutes after I arrived.  Finally, on that next Sunday we were able to shoot, the leaves were still good and rained loomed overhead, but out we went despite our past luck.

This is try number two on the multimedia engagement session and I’m very happy with how both Gina and Justin’s turned out as well as how Casey and Jenni’s turned out a couple of weeks ago.  My goal with my photography is and always has been to bring my couples closer together by reminding them of each other and of the milestones in their relationship.  

I know it sounds crazy that I think couples need to be reminded of each other when they see each other every day, but the world is busy, stressful and sometimes overwhelming place that can fog over and dull our ability to see the sharp, bright spirit of our loved ones.  Especially those that we see every day.  I am now convinced, after two attempts, that adding personalized audio to a slideshow of images helps cut even further through that dullness and haziness to remind us of how these special people correspond to our hearts and are therefore so vital to our lives.

The fall colors were completely gone everywhere except the road where Gina’s parent’s cabin sits on Trout Lake, part of the Whitefish Chain of Lakes in Northern, MN.  We started with a leisurely walk with their dog.

We ditched the dog and hiked through some trees to find a nice glow and some great flare.  If you look at my photography at all, you know how much I love flare.

I love Minnesota’s season’s, and kisses from my wife (something for you to look forward to Justin).

After our stroll, the weather turned cold fast, so we ran to the lake (actually we took the tram down from the cabin, as it about 500 steps) because it was going to rain!
 

Gina and Justin, thank you for being guinea pigs, good sports and patient with the weather.  Not to mention driving up here twice.
