Hey there, I’m Tim, I’m a wedding photographer based in Brainerd, MN. I specialize in shooting weddings, which actually means I only shoot weddings. I’m madly in love with my awesome wife Jill and father to Grace and Lauren and I’d like to introduce you to my third child whose name is timlarsenphoto-blog.com, but we like to call him TimBo for short. TimBo need constant feeding (posts), cleaning (spam comments) and attention (your visits and comments). He likes family time (pics of my family), story time (my rants), craft time (my book-making) but his favorite thing is show-and-tell (my images from every session I shoot). But most importantly TimBo want to be your friend, so please come back soon.

Andrew (my nephew): Seniors - Brainerd, MN (He’s from IA).

12.03.08 Seniors

My nephew and his dad drove up to Brainerd to shoot his senior pictures.  This is my first senior session and I really did enjoy it, so much so that I thought about pursuing the senior market here in my area, but my wedding photography business already has me too busy, so maybe another day or another year or another decade. If however, you are or your know a 2010 graduate that might want a senior session that is completely different and apart from the norm and is willing to trust my creative judgement, have them call me.

I am a pretty tall person (6′4″ or so), but Andrew is certainly taller than I am.  He’s fun and energetic, he’s a great soccer player and an even better guitar hero (expert level all the time). It was great to see him.

Matt and Bridget: Married - Marshall, MN

11.26.08 Weddings

The more wedding I shoot and the more couples that I meet, the more amazed I become at the effectiveness in which mysteriously person A can meet some other person B that fits them while at the same exact moment person B finds someone who fits them in person A.  Seriously awesome and seriously a mysterious blessing. Bridget and Matt, you are blessed and are a blessing.

After most weddings, I come home and tell my wife that I am going to weep, out of joy, when my little girls get married.  Being a Dad is the best.

Matt and Bridget were married at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.  This is the parish of my youth and I am still taken back by the beauty of the building. Matt and Bridget first met on their wedding day alone (besides me) in the church.

We ran out to Southwest Minnesota State University for some portrait time with the wedding party.

We sent the wedding party back to the church while Bridget, Matt and I wandered the halls of SMSU and we found some very interesting locations.  Forgive me if I break out some funky, unconventional and modern visual stimulation for the next few minutes.

At the Marshall Golf Club, we went out onto the grounds and DECAPITATED THE BOUQUET! Not on purpose, but it was quite hilarious.

Jesse and Erin: Married - Lafayette Club in Wayzata, MN

11.24.08 Weddings

One day Erin called and asked if I would be interested in shooting her wedding, reminding me that she was a bridesmaid in a Emily and Jason’s wedding that I shot a couple of years ago at Cragun’s Legacy, but her wedding would be at St. Bart’s in Wayzata with the reception at the Lafayette Club in Minnetonka Beach.  I quickly thought to myself, hummm…. Emily and Jason’s wedding was a blast, St. Barts is beautiful, the Lafayette Club is spectacular….   yes, please!

After hair and make-up, we headed to St. Bart’s to get dressed.

Erin and Jesse choose to see each other for the first time that day when she walked down the aisle.  I love this option and am convinced that if a photographer tries to talk a couple out of waiting to see each other until the ceremony, for the sake of pictures, he or she just isn’t creative enough.

After the ceremony we ran a couple of block to Lake Minnetonka at The Depot for a quick session with the wedding party.  Starting with the guys.

[...] Erin and Jesse’s wedding day was simply beautiful both in the people and in the weather, but when we go together the following afternoon, the people were still beautiful, but the weather…   not so much.  We had cold, wet, snow then sleet then rain then wind and various other combinations.  The weather was grungy so I embraced it, the grunge that is not the weather as we were all still cold and wet.
